Scotty: There's a nurse. Says she's looking for you. Vera: For me? Scotty: You know her? Vera: No. (to Scotty and Kat) How do I look? Kat: Like crap. Vera: (not affected by her comment a bit) Can't keep 'em off me.
Lilly Rush: (reading Martha's diary) Last entry: "Today Ramon told me the reason he was drawn to me is because I look like his late mother. I never thought I could be so happy." Nick Vera: Now is that romantic, or creepy?
Libby: All my life I've been somebody's daughter or wife. Always someone else's somebody. I never had the chance to just be me.
Molly Felice: They said we could have it all – family, husband, career. They just didn't say how.
Det. Jeffries: Well, I googled-- Scotty: Ahh, the future is now.
Paula: Me and Jeff might have had a thing. Lilly Rush: Like an affair? Paula: No, we'd get together and do crosswords.
Det. Vera: You know that witness, Edie? Det. Jeffries: The ex-junkie? Det. Vera: She called me. Det. Jeffries: And? Det. Vera: That's it. Just saying. Det. Jeffries: Saying what? Det. Vera: That in the end I'm not 100% totally washed up in the dating world. Det. Jeffries: Because a crack ho called you?
Noah: Lo was my second chance after so much darkness. I came here to start over and there she was: light. When she died, though, that light went out for good.
Helen: Women don't want to be bothered with war talk. Lo Kinney: Because meat pies and nylons are so much more interesting.
Andre: We're not so different, you and me. Jeffries: You and me are nothing alike. Andre: Two black men from the same neighborhood... If the ball had bounced just a little bit different, you could be sitting over here, and me over there. Jeffries: I never raped and murdered a little girl. Andre: Neither did I.
Lt. Stillman: You doing OK, Nicky? Det. Vera: I'm going home tonight. Lt. Stillman: By invitation? Det. Vera: Ambush.
Fritz: (to Andi) When most people come to college, they bring a stereo, not their father.
Lilly: (to John Doe) You don't hate them because they believe they'll live forever. You hate them because we once did, too.
Ramiro: (about Ana) She was dumb, so she's dead. Det. Valens: She wasn't dumb. Ramiro: Okay, she was a genius. She's still dead.
Ramiro: (about Father Peralta) You think that he took care of young pretty girls just for heaven points? Nah. He's getting something back and it wasn't nothing holy.
Dawn: (about detention) We didn't talk. Kat: Nobody said anything? Dawn: Nothing of substance. (Kat looks incredulous.) It wasn't like The Breakfast Club, it was like high school.
Raquel: (about Dawn Hill) That was her whole thing: reputation, reputation, reputation. Det. Jeffries: You think she would kill to protect her reputation? Raquel: It's what you live and die by in high school.
May Pearson: On what basis? Scotty: Obstructing a police investigation -88, New York bench warrant -94. Det. Nick Vera: And irritating two homicide guys 2006.
Otis: Kids at school used to say, "Where's your mother?" What was I supposed to say? "She's taking retreat with a maniac painter and other assorted psychos"? Lilly: I used to say mine was on tour with a rock band.
John Stillman: Women love firemen. It's like a disease or something. Will Jeffries: Give a women a choice between a nice-looking detective and a mutt fireman, she'll take the dog every time.
